The Peninsula Bangkok Academy offers a collection of tailor made programs exclusively designed to their guests’ distinctive and unprecedented access to historical, cultural and local lifestyle experiences.
Peninsula Bangkok’s guest can explore Bangkok as never before with the style, elegance and sophistication that The Peninsula has been providing since their establishment.
With 8 unique programs to choose from, ours was The Joy of Thai Cooking: An Introduction to Thai Cuisine. We eagerly look forward to it.
Our program started by visiting the local fresh market to select the ingredients via the The Peninsula Bangkok Tuk Tuk. The 3 wheeled taxi symbolizes exotic Thailand and is a fast and fun way to get around the city.
We were surprise that the hotel’s brand new emerald green Tuk Tuk even has free Wi-Fi to keep us socially connected for our market visit!

Upon arriving the fresh market, we were guided around and introduced to the ingredients for Thai culinary. Thai cooking blends several Asian elements and places emphasis on aromatic components hence the wide variety of different spices & herbs required for their cooking.
We were given mineral water & cold towel after the market visit to refresh ourselves before our mission starts.
Back to Peninsula Bangkok, our Thai cooking lesson is held at Thiptara Restaurant, one of Bangkok’s best Thai fine dining restaurant.
Thiptara (“Water from Heaven” in Thai) which overlook the majestic Chao Phraya River has a seating capacity of 68 guests & serves during dinner. Set within an enclosed garden, with banyan tree & traditional teak wood salas, Thiptara offers diners an exquisite and ancient Thai dining experience.
Aprons & hats were provided, and we were introduced to our Sifu – Thai Chef de Cuisine Mr. Chamnam.
Our Mission : Prepare 4 Course Thai Cuisine
