Burano is located 45 mins ferry ride away from Venice. The place is well known for its brightly coloured fishermen’s houses and its casual eateries serving seafood from the lagoon.
In the 1500s, Burano rose to prominence when its lacemaking traditions were born. For centuries, women made the intricate handmade lace, which was in high demand across Europe.
The colours of the houses follow a specific system, originating from the golden age of its development.

Getting In
It is highly recommended to do a day trip to Burano from Venice. Visitors can cover the place in half a day.
You can take the Vaporetto Line 12 (waterbus) from San Zaccaria stop which is near to St Mark’s Basilica to Murano & Burano.

Return ticket per pax is about €15 for or €20 for a 1-day pass which you can use the pass to visit other islands.
