Cannubi by Umberto Bombana Makes History with Michelin Star in Bangkok

Cannubi by Umberto Bombana, located within Dusit International’s reimagined flagship hotel, Dusit Thani Bangkok, has achieved a landmark moment for Thailand’s dining scene by earning one Michelin Star in The Michelin Guide Thailand 2026—the first Italian restaurant in the country to receive the honour.

Curated by Chef Umberto Bombana, the acclaimed force behind Hong Kong’s 8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana—the world’s only three-Michelin-starred Italian restaurant outside Italy—Cannubi reflects his lifelong devotion to exceptional produce, terroir and refined Italian cooking.

In Bangkok, this philosophy is realised by Executive Italian Chef Andrea Susto, Bombana’s longtime protégé, who crafts classically rooted dishes refined with contemporary technique. The menu spans seasonal à la carte selections, tasting menus, a set lunch and a celebrated white truffle menu, complemented by a thoughtfully curated wine list of more than 350 labels.

Set on the lobby level of the reimagined Dusit Thani Bangkok, the two-level restaurant overlooks the hotel’s dramatic nine-storey waterfall. Inside, heritage golden teakwood panels preserved from the original Benjarong restaurant form a striking centrepiece, creating a warm, intimate atmosphere alongside private dining rooms for six and twelve guests.

Calling the recognition a “tremendous honour,” Chef Bombana said the accolade reflects the restaurant’s commitment to expressing the soul of Italian cuisine through integrity, passion and respect for exceptional ingredients, while also celebrating the vision behind the new Dusit Thani Bangkok.

The Michelin Star adds to a remarkable year for the hotel, which, since reopening in September 2024 has earned a Michelin Key and ranked #60 on The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2025 extended list. Cannubi’s success further cements the hotel’s position as one of Bangkok’s most compelling dining destinations.
